There’s like some special contacts for people with astigmatism.
How is it difefrent than just not being able to see as sharply and clearly as you should?

Well I guess you are asking how is astigmatism different from other refractive errors like myopia and hyperopia.
Well just to put it simply astigmatism is a cornea or lens shaped more cylindrical like a football rather then spherical like a baseball. This causes the light to focus in two different locations on the retina…. to see clearly you need the light to land perfectly in the retina.
With nearsightedness and farsightedness the light is either focused behind or in front of the retina not 2 different locations.
This is why toric lenses are needed for correcting astigmatism!
Actually, an astigmatism does just that–it causes you not to be able to see as sharply as you could, since all the light gets caught at the wrong angle.
Actually an astigmatism is when your cornea is shaped incorrectly. There are contacts that will correct this and try to reverse the astigmatism itself. I used to have an astigmatism but mine corrected itself.
You can read about it here: http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions…
Like astigmatism is different because u like confuse things. For example if your driving and the it says the speed limit is 45 u might see 54. It’s a confusing thing but thats what I know!
Its not. Thats the main symptom of astigmatism. Not being able to see as sharply and clearly as you should.
astigmatism- the cornea is oblong football shape instead of a spherical baseball
oblong shape causes rays to focus on 2 points in the back of your eye rather than 1 if it was normal
this is because the football shape is a n astigmatic cornea has a steeper curve and is flatter
can’t be corrected by normal plus or minus lenses
